Foster moms not helping girls: HC
Hyderabad: The High Court refused to provide access to the rescued victims to the women, who claimed to be the foster mothers of the minor girl children, who were rescued by the police at the prostitution houses at Yadadri. The High Court found the women wanting in not complaining about the exploitation of the girls to the police.
A Division Bench comprising the Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan and Justice A. Rajashekar Reddy on Thursday, while dealing with the petition taken up on child sexual abuse at Yadadri, directed the Child Welfare Committees to deny access to any person who wanted to visit the minor girl victims housed in the rescue homes.
The bench also rejected the plea of the foster mothers seeking access to the children, who were sheltered at Shishu Gruha and other places. The court commented that the foster mothers would have informed the police about the sexual exploitation if they had any affection for the victims. Further, the bench also took into consideration the contentions of Prajwala, the NGO, where 26 child victims were kept, that politicians were visiting child victims frequently with permissions accorded by the child welfare authorities. Prajwala told the court that when the politicians were denied access, they were creating a lot of nuisance and requested that these visits be stopped in the interest of the child victims.
The bench directed the Child Welfare Committees to deny access and not to issue any orders permitting any of the persons from meeting the child victims till the entire investigation was complete and the charge sheet was filed in the court.
The Division Bench issued notices to the Child Welfare Commi-ttees of Nalgonda and Rangareddy district, and impleaded them as additional respondents and directed them to respond to the notices by March 12, 2019 and also file a report to this effect. The Division Bench agreed with the contentions of the Spe-cial Counsel of Telan-gana that the Investi-gating Team which was investigating into the Child trafficking case, would conclude its investigation in another two months and file the chargesheet.
