Telangana High Court responds to PIL on Medchal district land grab
HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court on Monday sought full details on a public interest litigation, which alleged that precious government land on survey number 221 of Gajularamaram village in Quthbullapur mandal of Medchal district has been encroached by realtors, and government officials were not responding to complaints against encroachers.
A division bench headed by Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan issued notices to the revenue department, Medchal district collector and others to submit details in this regard within four weeks.
Manchu Naveen Kumar, social worker and resident of Tirumalgherry, Hyderabad, filed the PIL seeking a direction to the Telangana government that its land be protected. The petitioner submitted that M/s. Mathrubhumi Infra, a real estate firm, has illegally encroached upon the said precious government land in guise of making plots in other survey numbers, which are surrounded by survey number 221. Though the petitioner made a number of representations to revenue officials against the illegal encroachment, development and plotting by the said real estate firm continued, as officials turned a deaf ear on his representations. The petitioner thus sought that the High Court direct the Telangana government to initiate stringent action against the real estate company.
