Uppal Corporator's spouse accused of land grabbing
Hyderabad: TRS Uppal Corporator Mekala Anala Reddy’s husband has been accused of grabbing agricultural land measuring 1770 square yards meant for public purposes. A case against him has been booked at the Uppal Police station.
Mr. M. Hanumanth Reddy was a TSRTC driver, before his wife contested the elections. He resigned from his job when the corporator was given a ticket recommended by the Home Minister N. Narsimha Reddy.
He is alleged to have threatened people and collected ‘mamools’ from businessmen in the Uppal division. It is also alleged that he connived with the GHMC Uppal Town Planning Officer and would interfere with every new construction. There have been several complaints by residents against the Corporator’s husband and his henchmen. Now the latest is that he along with three others have been booked in a land grabbing case.
In the FIR copy, filed by Durgam Naveen Yadhav, a complainant and resident of Uppal, it says, “Agriculture land bearing survey number 222, 1770 , situated at Uppal Bagayath village was converted into residential plots as per the approved layout by the Gram Panchayath in 1975. Around 1770 sq yards area was left for public utility, that is, school, park or community hall. The land has been vacant till 2016. In this regard M. Hanumanth Reddy along with accused No. 2 , Vemula Santhosh Reddy, colluded and got executed registered general power of attorney from one Isaac Ibraham and J. D Vijaya Kumar in favour of the accused under criminal conspiracy.”
“The corporator’s husband claimed that he was related to TS Home Minister and that he has influence in the government with a few ministers. He threatened people with dire consequences if they went against him, saying he would falsely implicate them in fabricated cases,” says Mr. Yadhav in the FIR.
A case under section 420, 423, 120 (b), 506 IPC, 156 (3), Cr PC of the Indian Penal code has been registered against Mr. Hanumath Reddy.
Earlier, before the complaint was filed, residents of Uppal staged a dharna and complained about Hanumanth Reddy to the GHMC, seeking protection of the land.
In response to the complaint, the GHMC chief deputy zonal commissioner, Raghu Prasad and his officials to inspect the land. There is also a proposal to construct a compound wall.
