PM inaugurates new Metro line in Bengaluru
BENGALURU: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the 13.71 km Metro line from Whitefield (Kadugodi) to Krishnarajapuram in Bengaluru city and with the new line, Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) becomes the second largest Metro network in the country after Delhi metro. Bengaluru has metro network of 69.66 km with 63 stations.
After inauguration, Narendra Modi travelled on the Metro train for about a distance of 4-km and chatted with students and personnel of the BMRCL. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Governor Tawar Chand Ghelot and others accompanied Narendra Modi on the Metro train.
The newly inaugurated route will have 12 stations and will be operated with 5 trains and 2 trains will be kept as back up. The frequency of the train operating on this route is 12 minutes.
BMRCL stated that the inauguration of Whitefield to KR Puram Metro train will provide a world class rapid travel facility to commuters of Whitefield IT corridor.
