Sunitha Krishnan named for humanitarian award
Hyderabad: Sunitha Krishnan, co-founder of Prajwala has been nominated for the Aurora Prize, 2018, a global humanitarian award given to an individual ‘for the exceptional impact their actions have had on preserving human life and advancing humanitarian causes’.
The selection committee of the Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity announced three humanitarians as potential recipients of the Prize on Tuesday.
Prajwala rescues, rehabilitates and reintegrates victims of sex trafficking and forced prostitution back into society and has positively impacted the lives of more than 17,800 women and children.
The three humanitarians will be honoured at the third annual Aurora Prize Ceremony in Yerevan, Armenia, on June 9, 2018.
Of the three nominated, one will be chosen as the 2018 Aurora Prize Laureate at a ceremony on June 10, 2018. The Laureate will receive a grant of US $100,000, as well as a $1,000,000 award.
