Tamil University aggressively marketing its books, says VC
THANJAVUR: Tamil University (TU) has published 452 books so far out of which 225 books are now available for sale in the publication department, said G. Balasubramanian, TU vice-chancellor, here on Wednesday.
He inaugurated the special discount book sale exhibition organised by the University in connection with Tamil New year at the palace campus of the University.
He said that exhibition should have been inaugurated on Tamil New year day but due to continuous holidays, it was inaugurated on Wednesday. The exhibition will go on till May 8 and books will be sold at 50 per cent discount. He also said that the University is in the process of publishing nearly 20 new books with the sum of Rs 13 lakh provided by University Grants Commission. Besides this Tamil Nadu government has released Rs two crore for republishing books and using that amount 225 books are being republished, the vice-chancellor said.
“Tamil Nadu Government will give `two crores per year for four years,” he said.

Pazha.Maravarman, secretary of ‘Ulaga Thirukural Peravai’ participated as chief guest. He said that Tamil University books are rare publications and students, research scholars and people could use this opportunity and purchase them. S. Muthukumar, registrar, P.
