Former minister S Suresh Kumar is BJP pick for Karnataka assembly speaker

BJP is well aware of the fact that, it has short fall of numbers to win the Speaker elections.

Bengaluru: Decided not to give up its fight against H.D. Kumaraswamy headed Congress-JD(S) coalition government, the state BJP has fielded candidate for Speaker post. Former minister and party five time MLA, S. Suresh Kumar has filed nomination on Thursday following instruction of party top brasses at Delhi. If BJP candidate not withdraw nomination, elections to the Speaker post is imminent and also it will be first time in Karnataka for elections to Speaker post.

BJP is well aware of the fact that, it has short fall of numbers to win the Speaker elections. BJP has 104 seats in the 15th Assembly, on the other hand Congress-JD(S) alliance having 117 seats with support of two Independent MLAs. Speaking to reporters on Thursday, BJP spokesperson C.T. Ravi said that, “Our party has no numbers to win Speaker elections, but the party wanted to expose unholy alliance of Congress and JD(S) parties by fielding candidate to the Speaker post,” he said.
