Dangers lurk around Tank Bund, visitors worried

Hyderabad: Summer usually brings in lakhs of tourists to Hyderabad, especially after the city earned global popularity as a tourist destination.

Among the popular tourist spots in the city is Hussainsagar lake and its adjoining attractions. However, this summer the visitors are subject to numerous hardships like pavements are under renovation while a bigger threat to pedestrians is that the lake is not barricaded.

Many visitors who came to tank bund with family were on Thursday wondering why HMDA’s planning has been so sluggish.

Vimla Deshpande from Pune said, “Hyderabad is such a lovely city and has so many beautiful places. However, not having a barricade at the lake is a potential killer.”

There are many iron rods at the entrance of lumbini park, where renovation work is underway.

Vijaya Kumar, a resident of Mangalagiri, said “This is not our first trip here. There has been considerable development over a period of time. However, the authorities should take more precautions while ensuring the safety of the visitors. Such iron rods and haphazard maintenance can cause grievous injuries.”
The pavements are under repair and the one outside the NTR park lies broken while construction material has been dumped opposite the ‘Love Hyderabad’ spot. This is causing inconvenience to families walking along the stretch with children and even motorists.
