BRS Legislator Encroaches Upon Govt Land, Daughter Returns Them to Municipal Body

Warangal: Tulja Bhavani Reddy, daughter of Jangaon BRS legislator Muttireddy Yadagiri Reddy, said that she would be giving back land that her father had encroached and registered on her name to the Cherial municipality.

In a quick follow-up action, the compound wall constructed around the land was demolished on Sunday. She has accused him of grabbing a site that was in her name.

Later, speaking to media persons at the site, Bhavani said that her father had taken over government land in Survey No.s 1399, 1400, 1401 and 1402 and registered it on her name.

“I am correcting the mistake which was done by my father. The land belongs to the people. I have also prepared the registration documents in favour of the municipality. I will be handing over the registration documents to the collector through the court,” she said.

She said that her father, who is 70 years old, should not have made such a mistake since he was elected twice. Before becoming an MLA, he had over ₹1,000 crore worth of property. He gets around ₹1.5 crore as rent from that, she explained.

“People should excuse him as I am returning the land,” she pleaded.

Opposition leaders and people’s organisations cheered her decision. Some of them distributed sweets at the Cherial bus stand.
