Hyderabad: To get rid of the husband, family members of a woman created a fake ‘khula’ (annulment of nikah at the wife’s request) by misguiding the qazi. After knowing the facts, the qazi cancelled the khula certificate.
Syed Abdul Wahed of Saleemnagar Colony, Malakpet said that he received a khula copy from one of the members of his in-laws’ family on WhatsApp. He was shocked to see that the certificate was about the annulment of his marriage.
When he contacted family members about the khula which was not endorsed by him, he was asked to come to their house for negotiations.
Mr Wahed said he informed mutual friends of both families. His in-laws delayed and finally, arbitrators were asked to come to their house late at night, where they created a concocted story and lodged a false criminal complaint against him at the Kalapathar police station, alleging that his ex-wife was harassed. He was summoned by police for investigation.
Mr Wahed said meanwhile he approached Mr Mohammed Arif Nizami, who is deputy government qazi of Quilla Mohammed Nagar, Hyderabad, and Ranga Reddy to know the facts. He informed him that one of his Qari un Nikah (Nikah recitor) Mohammed Ismayeel had submitted the file for issuing the khula certificate. Based on his testimony, the office had issued the certificate.
The Naib Qazi informed that Mohammed Ismayeel revealed that the brother of the woman Mr Khaleeq Ahmed Khan and another person Mohammed Sameer had showed him a video depicting Mr Wahed as signing on papers.
