Traffic diversion hits Mylavaram village
Vijayawada: Traffic diversions at Ibrahimpatnam on the National Highway No. 65 in view of flyover construction at Kanakadurga temple is creating problems in Mylavaram and surrounding areas. All the heavy vehicles coming from NH-65 and going towards NH-16 are being diverted on to Mylavaram road and from there on to Nuzvid road.
The sudden influx of traffic is giving sleepless nights to the inhabitants on the route from Mylavaram to Nuzvid. Though there wasn’t much problem to the residents of Mylavaram town as the vehicles pass the town on the bypass road, increase in vehicular traffic, especially of the heavy trucks makes the route a buzz.
The problem is much more severe in Velvadam, Chandrala, Battulavari-gudem and Yanamadala as the road intersects these places. With the plying of heavy-loaded trucks day and night, locals are having a tough time. The roads in this route are also getting damaged because of the heavy-loaded trucks.
Mr Hari Krishna, a resident of Velvadam, said that the flow of traffic is continuous through their village and it has become very difficult for them to cross the road. The roads have already been damaged and the continuous noise that the lorries generate is also a problem for the locals, he added.
Mylavaram circle-inspector D. Venkata Ramana said that they have made necessary arrangements to see the smooth flow of traffic. “We are sending the normal trucks in Mylavaram – Nuzvid route and the long-route vehicles are being diverted through A Konduru cross-road to Vissannapeta and to Nuzvid to avoid possible stuck-ups,” he said.
However, the opposition parties found fault with the government. Mr Jogi Ramesh of the YSR Congress said that the government started the flyover works by saying that it will be finished before Krishna Pushkaralu, but failed to lay even a four-lane road. He further said that it seems the works may take another year to complete with the speed with which they are going now. With the traffic diversions, roads in Mylavaram have completely been damaged and people are left to their own fate. This is complete failure of the government, he added.
