Hubballi: Bilagi MLA, J T Patil’s admission that he could be the target of another “fake sex video” has created a stir in political circles here with Opposition parties wondering why he would get a stay on its telecast if he was innocent and Congress leaders vociferously rising to his defence.
Mr Patil went to court soon after a Kannada channel said the leader of an opposition party had a sex video featuring him. Now it is being rumoured that a BJP leader has the video and is planning to release it a few months later with an eye on the coming state elections.
But his loyal supporters in the party say he was forced to move the court to stop its telecast owing to pressure from members of his family and friends. “Mr Patil is a straightforward man and has never hurt anyone. These are rumours spread by his rivals for political reasons. We are very unhappy with the move to tarnish his image and are backing him all the way,” said Bagalkot district Congress president, M B Soudagar.
Other Congress leaders claim the MLA is being targeted by some individuals, who want to blackmail him and make some quick money inspired by the H Y Meti sex scandal that led to his resignation a couple of weeks ago.
