Hyderabad: A petition has been filed with the Human Rights Commission regarding the regularisation of tuition classes in the state by Balala Hakkula Sangham on Tuesday.
The petitioner stated that these centres are functioning without providing basic needs for children and have requested the commission to ban tuitions till Class 8th.
Most of the tuition points in the state do not have basic facilities like washrooms, benches, drinking water and others.
Children are being sent at odd hours such as early mornings and late evenings which cause a lot of stress to the children and amount to a form of abuse.
As they have to manage these tuitions while also going to school, this puts undue pressure on them. Moreover, a single person would teach all the subjects from class one to intermediate, stated the petition.
Achyuta Rao, founder of Balala Hakkula Sangham, who filed the petetion stated that Justice Chandraiah, chairperson, has discussed the issue with them in detail and said that they would take necessary action soon.
Meanwhile, the state education department does not have any details regarding the number of tuition centres which are present in every nook and corner, as mostly private individuals manage it on their own.
The Human Rights Commission was asked to direct the school education department to regularise the tuition centres and to ban them till the eighth standard.
