Congress Intensifies Campaign for INTUC in SCCL Elections
karimnagar: All the issues pertaining to the coal miners and contract workers of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) will be resolved by a high-power committee, said IT minister D. Sridhar Babu on Monday.
He was participating in an SCCL election campaign in support of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (Intuc) in Ramagundam of Peddapalli district.
The Congress intensified its bid with Sridhar Babu campaigning in Ramagundam, revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy at Kothagudem and MLA Gandra Satyanarayana in Mancherial. They have assured coal mine workers of achieving all-round development of Singareni.
Sridhar Babu said that the state government will fulfill the dream of Singareni workers to have their own house. He said the government would allow new underground coal mines.
A holiday will be declared on the Singareni Foundation Day while women employees working in underground mines would be relocated to the surface region, he said.
Srinivas Reddy promised to fill all vacant posts in SCCL; sanction housing sites and Rs 20 lakh interest-free loans for construction of houses.
Satyanarayana alleged that the previously recognized Telangana Boggu Gani Karmika Sangam (TBGKS) was never bothered about resolving issues pertaining to coal mine workers. However, INTUC will resolve all issues once they are voted to power, he assured.
In erstwhile Adilabad district, MLA Gaddam Vivek interacted with INTUC leaders in Mandamarri and participated in the gate meeting at Bellampalli. Kokkirala Prem Sagar and INTUC secretary general attended the meeting in Mancherial.
The MLAs claimed that it was the Congress government that had saved SCCL from BIFR by sanctioning special funds. They reminded them that Rahul Gandhi has promised not to privatise the company and create employment by setting up new coal mines.
