Modi Taking Forward Vajpayee's Legacy: Kishan
Hyderabad: BJP state president and Union minister G. Kishan Reddy lauded the role of former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, who delivered good governance. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was following the same path, Reddy said.
Vajpayee was instrumental in taking forward reforms in the telecom sector way back in 1999. The Modi government is working to lay optical fibre networks in every village. It has already connected two lakh villages with broadband internet. The linkage between jan dhan accounts, aadhaar and mobile connections heralded historical changes in the nation’s economic scene, he said.
Recalling Vajpayee’s contribution across sectors, he said, “The nuclear tests in Pokhran were crucial for the security of the nation. In line with the same thinking, Modi acquired 20 per cent stakes in Sakhalin gas fields in Russia with an investment of $1.7 billion. The country has invested in over 20 countries to ensure energy security. The visionary golden quadrilateral road project is still being remembered and praised.”
The Vajpayee government, it may be recalled, introduced kisan credit cards easing loans for farmers. In line with the recognition given to the north east, Modi introduced the Act East policy.
In line with the importance given to Indian languages by Vajpayee, Modi gave impetus with NEP (new education policy), Reddy said.
