Kozhikode: A. Habeebulla, sub-inspector of medical college police station here was suspended for six months on Friday by City Police Commissioner Kori Sanjaykumar Gurudin on the charges of financial fraud and high-handedness.
The order was issued after an internal committee constituted to probe the allegations against the SI submitted its report to the commissioner. The charges also include taking money from traffic violators and playing a mediator in settling cases and hushing up complaints.
Earlier, Habeebulla was in the news for the case filed by a woman against the SI for torturing her 16-year-old son. The investigation officers closed the case citing it as a baseless allegation. The woman had even gone on a hunger strike, but the case did not reach anywhere.
