Tiruvannamalai: Maintenance work and checking of electronic voting machines (EVM), including 5,678 ballot units and 4,186 control units, that have arrived in Tiruvannamalai district will be done by engineers from Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Benguluru.
Speaking to newsmen, the district collector A. Gnanasekaran, who was present at the first-level-checking of the units commenced on Wednesday said, the Revenue department officials would also be engaged in the operation of electronic voting machines and other control systems, for the conduct of ensuing Assembly elections. He added that the district officials would be provided good training before they were assigned to do the work.
