Rain for AP till Tuesday, no relief from heat wave

Visakhapatnam: Many parts of AP might get rain for two days starting Monday. A report from IMD said lower tropospheric southerly and south westerly winds were prevailing over the state and Yanam.

Under the influence of this, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with a speed of 30-40kmph are likely at isolated places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema over the next two days, it said.

“Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely at isolated places over south central AP.”

However, the rain has not brought any relief to people from the sweltering heat. A summer-like atmosphere had started setting in from February last week in many districts. On March 25, Anantapur recorded the highest temperature of 39.9 degree Celsius, followed by 38.8 °C in Kadapa, 38 °C in Nandyal, 37.5 °C in Kurnool, 37.1 °C in Nandigama, 36.4 °C in Tirupati and 34 °C in Vizag city.
