Power cut: Police work with mobile phone lights!

Between 7.45 pm and 8 pm on Monday could have seen that even police station in the city are without power.

Bengaluru: Energy Minister D.K. Shivakumar may claim that there is no load shedding in the city, but those who visited the Malleswaram police station, one of the most important stations of the city, between 7.45 pm and 8 pm on Monday could have seen that even police station in the city are without power.

Police officials at the station were forced to work with the help of torch in their mobile phones for more than 15 minutes as there was no power back-up either. Soon after the showers started around 7.45 pm, power went off at the police station and surrounding areas. While some officials stepped out of the police station, others were seen working with their mobile phone lights.

“It is unpardonable that even the police station has gone without power. What if a criminal escapes or someone steals arms and ammunition? Why can’t police stations have a power back-up,” a resident asked. A police officer confessed that many police stations in the city don't have power back-up.
