Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday hinted at rechristening squares and bus stands in the state named after self-styled godman, Asaram, who was found guilty of raping a minor girl by a local court in Rajasthan.

Mr Chouhan tweeted that necessary steps would be taken to change the name of the square in Bhopal, named after the disgraced spiritual leader.

All the bus stands and squares in the state named after Asaram will be changed, official sources said here.

“Nobody is above our Constitution, the law and people’s sentiments. Appropriate actions will be taken”, he twitted.

A special court which sat in Jodhpur Central Jail on Wednesday sentenced Asaram to life in prison- until death- after declaring him guilty of raping a 16-year-old girl in his ashram in Manai village near Jodhpur in Rajasthan in 2013.
