Hyderabad: A bus that was stolen from the city on Wednesday was found dismantled in a yard in Nanded district of Maharashtra on Thursday.
The bus belonging to the RTC was stolen from Mahatma Gandhi Bus Depot, Imliban early on Wednesday. On receiving a complaint from bus driver Venkateshwarulu, the Afzalgunj police registered a case and began investigations.
After verifying CCTV footage at the bus depot, city roads and at the toll plazas on the highway, a police team rushed to Nanded district on the trail of the bus.
Sources said that an investigating team raided a vehicle dismantling yard in Nanded but could not find the bus. Upon closer inspection, the team identified the chassis of the bus and two route boards which showed ‘3D’, from Ambedkarnagar to Afzalgunj.
The team is busy in collecting details of who drove the bus there. No one has been arrested in this connection so far.
Afzalgunj station house officer Girra Venkatesham said he had not received all the details from the team.
Bus driver Venkateshwarulu said the bus (AP11 Z 6254) belonged to the Kushaiguda depot and was parked at the Imliban depot at 11.15 pm on April 23 after completing the last trip. He stated that he and the bus conductor, Mr Rahul, went to restroom after parking the bus. When they came back to start the first trip at 5.50 am on Wednesday, they found the bus missing. After searching for it, he lodged a complaint at 10 am at the Afzalgunj police station.
