Viveka case: Gangi Reddy cites good conduct for bail

HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court on Tuesday, hearing the arguments in the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) petition seeking cancellation of bail to Yerra Gangi Reddy, the first accused in the Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy murder case, adjourned the case to Wednesday.

In the course of the proceedings, Gangi Reddy’s counsel Dama Sheshadri Naidu submitted to Justice Chillakur Sumalatha that the CBI’s two previous petitions in this regard were dismissed by the Kadapa Sessions Court and the AP High Court.

The senior counsel stated that the Supreme Court while transferring the CBI petition to the Telangana High Court, had not made any observation regarding bail cancellation.

Sheshadri Naidu argued that Gangi Reddy appeared before the CBI whenever he was served notice and questioned the reason for the CBI seeking cancellation of the bail, given that the central agency neither had any complaint about Reddy nor did Reddy violate any condition of the bail.

The Justice, in turn, enquired with CBI counsel N. Nagendran, who informed the court that Gangi Reddy had appeared for questioning whenever a notice was served. However, he argued that Reddy never discussed the issue at hand and failed to respond to questions posed by CBI officials.
