LDF shares red joy in Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram: A festive mood prevailed in the city capital on Wednesday with red flags being put up by LDF supporters in all important junction and the city being filled with LDF workers from across the state, many of them wearing red hats, and vehicles with red flags.
Right from the early hours of Wednesday, the city witnessed flow of LDF supporters from various parts of the state. All trains and KSRTC buses from northern parts of the state that reached the were packed and the highways witnessed a flow of vehicles with red flags bringing LDF workers.
Hardcore party supporters in large number gathered in front of AKG centre right from the early hours to give salutations to the party leaders. As minister designates and top party leaders moved in and out of the AKG centre, party workers raised slogans supporting them.
“It is our responsibility to usher in the Left government led by comrade Pinarayi Vijayan, a moment we have been waiting for quite long time,” Mr Rajendran, a hardcore leftist from Thalssery said.
Many party workers took position at the central stadium, the venue of the swearing-in ceremony, even before noon to ensure a better position to view of the swearing-in ceremony clearly, while many took the opportunity for a site seeing in the city.
“These are rare opportunities we get to visit the state capital from the other end of the state. Hence we are just roaming around to see Secretariat and other buildings,” said Kasargod native Rafeeq.
With the Central Stadium being packed with visitors, many who turned up could hardly witness the function. Mr Gopi and his friends, who came down from Ernakulam to witness the swearing-in, has opted to take a trip to Kovalam.
“We could hardly witness the swearing in owing to the rush. Hence we thought of taking a trip to Kovalam and if possible to Vizhinjam,” he said. Meanwhile, putting up of flags on road dividers had invited the with of some motorists.
“The flags on roundabouts blocks view of motorists and could lead to accidents. Hope the party workers themselves would remove it after the celebrations,” a two wheeler rider could be heard telling his pillion rider at Vellyambalam.
