Inter admissions annoy CBSE parents
Hyderabad: Parents whose children are still waiting for their Class X CBSE board exam results are annoyed that the Board of Intermediate Education has started admissions into junior colleges without waiting for them.
The SSC results were announced on April 28 while the CBSE is expected to announce its Class X board exam results on May 28 or 29.
Admissions for junior colleges started on May 21, and will be conducted in two phases.
“If schools and junior colleges confirm the seats to SSC students, how will CBSE Class X students will get admission,” asked Mr Royden Roach, parent of a CBSE student.
“How can the schools and colleges confirm admissions even before the CBSE results are announced.”
He said many parents had received texts from junior colleges to take admissions. “CBSE students can only apply for admissions once their results are out. What will be the fate of the thousands of the Class X students from the CBSE,” he asked.
A parent said, “It is important for colleges to wait as CBSE students can choose their stream and college only after the results are out. A few corporate colleges are harrassing parents to take admissions. They are even asking for the fees to be paid to confirm admission for their kids.”
Asked about the problem, Ms Anjali Razdan, vice-chairperson of the Hyderabad Sahodaya Schools Complex, said students need not worry about Intermediate admissions. “If the seats are filled, there are still many avenues where they wait for CBSE candidates.”
The intermediate board says CBSE students can apply for admissions in the second phase.
However, the Intermediate board says the students and parents need not worry as there are two- phases of admissions and CBSE students can apply for admissions once their results are out.
A senior official from the TS Board of Intermediate Education said, “The parents of CBSE students need not worry because this year the admissions are being conducted in two phases. The issue of application forms and commencement of admissions in the first phase have started on May 21. The schedule of the second phase will be communicated in due course. CBSE students still have time to apply for intermediate colleges.”
