Harish Rao slams Congress, asserts BRS's dominance ahead of Telangana Assembly polls

Hyderabad: Finance minister T. Harsih Rao said that Congress had no candidates to field in up to 50 Assembly constituencies, and the BRS was bound to come to power for a historic third time in the Assembly polls later this year.

Harish Rao slammed Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's comments, made at a Congress public meeting in Jadcherla on Thursday, that the Congress would will implement the ‘Himachal model’ in Telangana if the party was voted to power.

"The Congress candidate failed to retain her deposit in the Munigode bypoll. The Congress has no candidates in 40-50 Assembly constituencies. There is no question of Congress coming to power in Telangana, Harish Rao told a BRS Atmeeya Sammelanam at Miryalaguda on Friday.

Referring to Sukhu's comments that unemployment was more in Telangana, Harish Rao shot back saying political unemployment was severe in the Congress in Telangana after it lost two Assembly elections to the BRS. He said thousands of people from Himachal Pradesh had migrated to Telangana state to earn their livelihood.

Harish Rao stated that the BRS government had filled 1.52 lakh jobs in government sector in the last nine years and issued fresh notifications to fill another 80,000. The Congress governments in undivided AP filled just 25,000 government jobs from 2004 to 2014. Only 6,000 were from Telangana, he said.

In addition to this, 17 lakh jobs had been created in the private sector by attracting investments to the state, he added. He asked Congress leaders to answer why people should bring back their government in Telangana.

"Why should the Congress come back to power in Telangana? Is it to scrap Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima or to cut Aasara pension amount? Is it to cut 24x7 free power supply to farmers? Is it to bring back farmer's suicides," Harish Rao asked.
