YSRC, Congress trying to stall Polavaram, says N Chandrababu Naidu
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday said the Congress and the YSRC were trying to create hurdles for Polavaram project. He said YSRC leaders had started questioning entrusting of the Polavaram project works to the state. He said people would not tolerate if the parties try to stall Polavaram project. The Chief Minister, after attending the swearing-in ceremony of President Ramnath Kovind in New Delhi on Tuesday, met five Union ministers to discuss pending issues.
The Chief Minister met home minister Rajnath Singh, finance minister Arun Jaitley, minister for rural development Narendra Singh Tomar, minister for HRD Prakash Javadekar and minister for environment and forests Harshavardhan and minister for petroleum Dharmendra Pradhan. Later, speaking to mediapersons at the home minister’s residence in New Delhi, the Chief Minister said he discussed pending issues of special package.
He said the state government spent '3,000 crore on Polavaram project. He asked the Centre to release funds. The Chief Minister said that he discussed with the home minister delimitation of Assembly seats and several issues pending after the state bifurcation. He talked with Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan about Kakinada petroleum corridor and petroleum industries.
The Chief Minister said that he discussed with Minister for Environment and Forests Harshavardhan on denotification of 12,500 acres of forest land for the development of Amaravati capital and allotment of forest land for the development of industries near Chintalapudi in West Godavari district. He sought cooperation of the Union Minister for permission for the export of red sanders.
Union Minister for Civil Aviation Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Union Minister for Science and Technology Y.S. Chowdary and MP C.M. Ramesh accompanied the Chief Minister. Meanwhile, TD leaders staged protests over the attitude of Opposition.
