Telangana Constable Aspirants Lay Siege to Secretariat Over GO46
HYDERABAD: Tension prevailed in the Telangana Secretariat premises in Hyderabad on Wednesday noon after Telangana Police constable aspirants laid siege to the building.
The constable aspirants were protesting against the implementation of GO46. They expressed concern over GO46, saying aspirants, especially those belonging to rural belts would suffer if it were to be followed in the recruitment process.
They demanded that the Telangana government cancel GO46 and recruitment to be done as per the old rules. They stated that this would benefit candidates from the rural belt of the state.
The police rushed to the scene and tried to stop the candidates from gheraoing the Secretariat. The police reportedly detained a few candidates following an altercation. It is said that more than 50 aspirants had assembled in the secretariat. Security has been beefed up around the Telangana Secretariat and a few areas have been cordoned off.
The police department, meanwhile, was in a fix when their own home guards protested demanding regularising their service.
The home guards protesting at the Indira Park said that the government have promised to regularise their services a long ago, but nothing happened.
“We work equally with the police force but without any benefits, except the salary we are paid. We are paid like daily wagers, while we serve the department round the clock,” they said.
They have given representations to ministers, top brass in the department, but there is no response, they lamented. They were detained and shifted to nearby police stations and left off later on a personal surety.
