Jamia Nizamia work at snails pace
Hyderabad: Four years have passed but there is no sight of completion of the work at the Jamia Nizamia auditorium in the world famous Islamic institution. The project, estimated to cost Rs 14.65 crore, is funded by the Telangana State Wakf Board and is executed by the Roads and Buildings Department of the state government. The foundation stone for the building was laid in the year 2015. The work on the project was started about three and half years ago but was going on at snail pace. Nevertheless, frequent intervention from public representatives have helped speed up the works.
The TS Wakf Board and the Jamia Nizamia seminary management had planned to inaugurate the auditorium in February to coincide with the annual ‘Urs’ of Jamia founder Hazrath Sheikh-ul-Islam Hafiz Mohammed Anwar-ullah Farooqui Fazeelath Jung. However, the work could not be completed in time for various reasons.
All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen legislators Mr Ahmed Pasha Quadri said that they had taken up the issue with the TS Wakf Board. “There is an inspection of all the concerned officials of the Minorities’ Welfare Department including TS Wakf Board and Road and Buildings Department”, said the legislator.
TS Wakf Board Chairman, Mr Mohammed Saleem said that the Board has released sufficient funds for the project from time to time. “The work is in its final stage and will be completed at the earliest,” he said.
