Telangana: Doctors demand release of salaries and better facilities

The doctors part of TGGDA demanded recruitment of district medical and health officers on the basis of seniority

Hyderabad: About 600 doctors of state-run hospitals on Friday called on the government to fulfill their long-pending demands of hike in salary and release of arrears.

The doctors, part of the Telangana Government Doctors Association (TGGDA) met at Osmania Medical College, where they raised concerns over their demands not being met.

They demanded that the doctors and medical staff working under the Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP) should be merged with the health department which should release their salaries.

They also demanded the release to arrears which were due from the 2016 pay revision commission as well allowances to teaching doctors in rural medical colleges.

The doctors demanded recruitment of district medical and health officers on the basis of seniority, as well as provision of health cards and regularise doctors working on a contractual basis.
