Karnataka: District-level Janata Darshan programme launched
Mangaluru/Kalaburagi: In an effort to connect with the public and address their concerns, the Karnataka government introduced the district-level Janata Darshan programme on Monday.
Led by in-charge ministers and district officials, the initiative saw handling of several applications from various departments. Applications that could be resolved on the spot were attended to.
Dedicated help desks were set up to guide people towards the relevant departments for addressing their concerns. Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Priyank Kharge, emphasized the importance of the programme. "Instead of people coming to the government for resolving their problems, the Janata Darshan programme is being organized where the government reaches the people," Kharge said at the taluk stadium in Chincholi of Kalaburagi district.
He highlighted the government's commitment to proactively solve public issues and bring administrative solutions to their doorsteps. "After the Congress government came to power, all efforts have been made to solve people's issues. This is the commitment of the government," he affirmed.
Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao who is also the in-charge of Dakshina Kannada directed the authorities to take necessary action for all applications received.
"Soon, Janata Darshan will be extended to all taluks of the district," he said. Dinesh Gundu Rao stressed the need to eliminate delay and minimize inconvenience for the public.
Youth Affairs and Sports Minister B Nagendra who conducted the Janata Darshan in Ballari, said that as per the Chief Minister's directives, the government has decided to hold the programme to streamline administrative processes and expedite solutions for public issues.
"If the public has any grievances, they can participate in the Janata Darshan to be held at the district and taluk level every month and seek grievance redressal from concerned department officials. If there is a delay in addressing the issue, it will be conveyed to the applicant and will be addressed in a time-bound manner," Nagendra assured.
He said that the grievances recorded during Janata Darshan will be logged into the Integrated Public Grievance Redressal System (IPGRS) software, ensuring prompt delivery to the respective department. District-level officials will subsequently take measures to resolve the issue in a time-bound manner.
Vijayanagara District in-charge minister Zameer Ahmed Khan attended to numerous applications, ensuring that citizens like Lakshmi of Danayakanakere and Kenchamma who received widow assistance, and Jaya Bai who was granted a handicap pension. Additionally, he distributed labor cards to 250 applicants.
To ensure accountability, Khan instructed that the applications received during Janata Darshan should be categorized by the department. Applicants will be informed about the status through SMS or phone calls, with action taken reports expected at the next Janata Darshan.
