Andhra Pradesh: No phones yet in new Secretariat
Vijayawada: The general administration department officials utterly failed to provide telephone connection to the newly built world class Secretariat at Velagapudi. The negligence of officials in applying for the shifting of the landline phone connections from Hyderabad to Velagapudi led to no a single telephone being avalable for communication in this communication era. The CRDA, though provided the Cell on Towers (CoTs) in the Secretariat premises, the signals frequency could not reach inside the Secretariat as a result of which the officials must come out of the office to communicate anything.
CRDA additional commissioner Mallikarjuna said, “With several serious reminders to GAD for the shifting the landline connections from Hyderabad to Velaga-pudi, finally they have applied for shifting 160 connections very recently.” He added that 16 were installed. Mr Mallikarjuna also said the CRDA is providing the basic infrastructure with a good Internet connectivity of 45 Mbps speed for Wi-Fi and 650 Mbps speed for Local Area Network(LAN) from available quality service providers which fulfills the requirements of the Secretariat.
A top official from the BSNL said that there are total 800 connections in AP Secretariat out of which they have received request for shifting only 160 connections in the recent days. He also mentioned that there are many unpaid telephone bills from the Secretariat too. He expressed his disappointment towards the failure of the state officials in applying for the shifting, though the telephone connections are top priority.
“The government could not provide the minimum infrastructure of telephone connections but says it will built up an international standard city which is very pathetic,” says a deputy secretary cadre women officer. She also questioned what the government is doing when GAD has utterly failed in transferring the landline connections. Besides the telephone connection issues, road connectivity to the Secretariat is also the biggest issue, the employees said.
But according to the CRDA, there are 45 buses running during the office timings. “If any of the employees are facing a problem, they are free to contact him at any time to address the issues,” says Mr Mallikarjuna, CRDA additional commissioner.
