Barkas health centre to get a leg-up
Hyderabad: Commissioner of the Vaidya Vidhana Parishad, Dr B. Shiva Prasad, who inspected the Community Health Centre at Barkas on Thursday, promised to improve the outpatient services and to ensure that at least one doctor would be present round-the-clock at the hospital. He instructed the staff to adopt a monthly duty roster system.
Speaking to this newspaper, Dr Prasad said an adequate number of doctors and paramedical staff are deployed, but he agreed that the outpatient ward needs improvement as daily 400 to 450 patients visit the OPD. He instructed the staff to send a roster duty chart to him every month. He also instructed the staff to improve sanitary conditions in the hospital. He said that eight doctors are posted in the hospital, which is enough for a Community Health Centre. A paediatrician, a gynaecologist and a paediatric orthopaedic surgeon are on call at the hospital. General physicians treat patients till 2:00 pm.
Asked why there was no anaesthetist, he replied that while one is not deployed there on a regular basis, he is available on demand. There is no need to have a regular anaesthetist in a Community Health Centre, he said.
Member of the Ward Committee of the GHMC, Talha Saleh Al-Kaseri, presented a memorandum to the visiting officers of TVVP complaining of poor facilities and staff ill treating patients.
