Bengaluru: With the arrest of 10 people in the murder of Alliance University former vice-chancellor Dr Iyappa Dore, the police are getting closer to completing the investigation. But the police are now set to focus on the beneficiaries and conspirators in the case.
DCP (North) Shashikumar said that there are two dimensions to the case. One, execution of the murder and the other, conspiracy behind the murder.
Now, that the assailants hired for the murder have been arrested, the investigation will take a new angle, he said.Sources said that the police will identify the conspirators who would have benefited from the murder and question the family of Sudheer Angoor, who is already arrested.
There are issues of shares, board members, personal gains and continuation of Sudheer Angoor as the head of the university behind the murder.
DCP Shashikumar said that the murder investigation is over and the conspiracy part is being investigated which will lead to more arrests.Sources confirmed that Dr Iyappa Dore’s wife Dr Pavana’s charge against an advocate will also be investigated.
Arunkumar, the brother-in-law of accused Sunil, had kept him at his home. He had also resisted the police and helped protect the main accused. Rizwana, after giving shelter to the accused, had also called relatives in Kadri to tell them that the police were visiting the city looking for Fayaz. Salma, a bar girl from Rajasthan, knew the entire plot beforehand as her boyfriend and the main accused, Suraj Singh, had told her all details.
DCP Shashikumar said that 14 teams were formed with three ACPs, 11 inspectors and all the sub-inspectors. Each team was given 10 policemen. Around 130 officers were deployed across the city. As it was a murder of a former vice-chancellor, any delay could have led to apprehensions among public, and the arrests were made within 24 hours of the crime.
