Tiger attacks, injures man in Mudigere

Forest officials, who have tracked the tiger's pug marks, have now placed a cage at the estate to capture the big cat with a calf as bait.

CHIKKAMAGALURU: A tiger that had strayed into Uduse village of Mudigere taluk in Chikkamagaluru about a fortnight ago made its presence felt again on Sunday night by attacking a man. The victim escaped with injuries, while the tiger went into hiding at an estate near the village. Forest officials are making efforts to catch the tiger and shift it to a safer location.

Around 2 am, the victim, Anne Gowda, heard cries of the cattle and ventured out to see what was happening when the tiger pounced on him. When Gowda raised an alarm, the tiger escaped. Gowda was administered first-aid and shifted to a hospital in Hassan where he is said to be out of danger.

The tiger recently killed three calves at Uduse and forest officials had burst crackers hoping to drive the tiger away. But it has come back in search of prey.
