10 new Covid cases and two JN.1 variant infections reported in TS
Hyderabad: The uptick in Covid-19 infections in Telangana continued with the state reporting 10 new cases on Monday with nine of them coming from Hyderabad and one from Karimnagar district.
Meanwhile, agency reports from New Delhi, quoting ISACOG officials, said that two cases of the fast-spreading Covid variant, JN.1, were found in Telangana. No other details as to when these JN.1 positive samples were collected or from which part of the state they were found, were available. However, the state government’s health officials said that they have no confirmation from the Centre about JN.1 cases in the state till Monday evening.
In the one week from December 19, Telangana reported 55 new cases of which 45 were from Hyderabad.
Monday’s Covid-19 bulletin, released by the I & PR department, said that there were 55 active Covid cases in the state at present and one person was declared as recovered.
Meanwhile, there appeared to be confusion among the government ranks on whether the everyday Covid bulletin should be made public or not.
While the bulletin was not issued on Sunday, a senior official said that a decision was taken not to release the bulletin as “unnecessary panic will be created with just a few cases being reported every day being highlighted.”
