Two Covid-19 cases reported in Karimnagar
Karimnagar: Two years after the superspreading transmission from the district, the deadly coronavirus is back in Karimnagar with two women testing positive for COVID-19 at the government main hospital in Karimnagar on Monday.
Superintendent of the hospital Dr Veera Reddy said that of the two infected women, one was a hospital nurse and the other woman was from the Peddapalli district who came to the hospital for a general check-up.
After they showed influenza-like illness symptoms, RT-PCR tests were conducted on them and confirmed the Covid-19 infection. The samples collected from the two women patients were sent to the Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad for genome tests to confirm whether they were infected with the new corona variant JN.1.
Dr Veera Reddy appealed to the people to be alert given the spread of the new coronavirus variant across the country. The people should wear face masks and those, who are suffering from fever, cough, cold, and headache, must get themselves tested for COVID-19 at the nearest hospital, he advised.
