Khammam: 7,200 land deals yet to be updated in records

Farmers submitted all the details of their lands but there is no information in their name in the records.

Khammam: The negligence of the village revenue assistants in updating land records has became a problem for the farmers. The details of nearly 7,200 land transactions, which were sold by the owners, were not updated in the land records in Khammam district so far. With this, the farmers who purchased it, are facing problems.

There are 8.30 lakh households in Khammam district and about 2.91 lakh households possess lands. But, there are complaints that the some of the village revenue assistants have not been maintaining the land records properly.

About 7,200 farmers, who bought lands from various persons, are doing rounds of the mandal revenue offices for record of rights and updating their details in the Kasarapahani, a record maintained by the VRAs. Though these farmers submitted all the details of their lands, there is no information in their name in the records.

A farmer from Kachirajugudem under Khammam Rural mandal had submitted all his registration documents bought by him 20 years back. But, he was not given ROR and pattadar pass book till now. As per the details, those owning land below one acre in the district are 87,949 and those owning two acres will be 58,970.

The number of land holdings above five acres is 51,725 and that between 4-5 acres is 21,000. It is due to the negligence of the officials in updating the records that there are disputes between farmers. There are about 212 cases relating to land disputes in various courts in the district. The VRAs are supposed to resolve land disputes.
