Mass copying rampant in SSC exam centres in Nizamabad

Some private colleges encouraging copying.

Nizamabad: Mass copying has been rampant in the ongoing SSC examinations in Nizamabad district, but officials have managed to book only five cases so far. Few private educational institutions have been encouraging the malpractice over the last few days, while in the rural areas, the situation is even worse, with the flying and sitting squads failing to prevent the goings-on.

The SSC examinations began on March 21 and around 37,431 candidates from the district have been appearing for them. District observers, Ramana Kumar, joint director of the School Education department, K. Laxma Reddy, principal DIET Warangal and district educational officer K. Lingaiah visited several examination centres. The sitting and flying squads have also visited the examination halls to check for cheating.

A few private managements have been encouraging mass copying at certain centres. Using social media, a few invigilators have even been showing the answers to candidates. The lack of CCTV cameras at exam centres have allowed errant staff and candidates to flout ethics with impunity.

Parents of students have urged the district administration to keep a vigil on SSC examination centres to prevent mass copying. A senior official from the district education department said that they would initiate stringent action against the staff encouraging students to copy.
