Kerala: CEE opens site for option registration sans fees
KOCHI: The Commissioner of Entrance Examinations (CEE) who opened his website for the option registration for the first allotment of the PG medical courses on Monday has failed to specify the fee for these courses in 13 self-financing medical colleges in the state. This is in contradiction to the statement issued by him on Sunday that the details of the colleges, courses and fee in this regard will be available on his website from Monday.
The student aspirants for these 172 PG degree clinical and non-clinical and 41 PG diploma seats are in dire straits as they are in no position to register their options after realising the fee of these courses in SF colleges. Students say the CEE has specified only the fee of the government colleges on his website.
Interestingly the Professional Admission Supervisory and Fee Regulatory Committee headed by Justice Rajendra Babu has also failed to fix the fee of these courses ahead of the option registration process which it is supposed to enable the students to exercise their options with clarity on fees.
Last year, the fee fixed for clinical PG degree seats in SF colleges was Rs 14 lakh while for non-clinical it was Rs 8.5 lakh and for diploma courses Rs 10.5 lakh. Justice Rajendra Babu told DC on Monday that he will be able to fix the fee in the first week of April. However, the deadline for option registration for the first allotment is April 3 and it is very unlikely that the fee will be out before this date.
"We are really clueless. This is for the first time that PG medical admission has been brought under NEET and hence much transparency is expected in admissions. But this hazy situation on fees is upsetting all those expectations," said an aspirant student requesting anonymity.
