Telangana: Resolve power employees demands, Bandi writes to CM

Hyderabad: BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Monday urged Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to resolve the demands of nearly 23,000 artisans and employees of the electricity department, who have been agitating for several months.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, Sanjay said the absence of response to the demands indicated the anti-employee attitude of the state government.

“The demands pertaining to providing General Provident Fund (GPF) to those who joined service in the electricity department between 1999 and 2004 is a legitimate one,” Sanjay said, adding that the government must also address the needs of those working as artisans in the department.

He said electricity employees had played a key role in the statehood movement, and the government must take steps to ensure they get retirement benefits, PRC and GPF. He urged that the government immediately hold talks with the agitating employees. If the government continues to neglect their demands, the day may not be far off when they will revolt, Sanjay said.
