Chandrababu Naidu irked over DG not reporting to him
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu appears to be irked that the DG (Intelligence) has been advised to not report to him, and has taken objection to the DG (Intelligence) reporting to the state's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).
In his letter to the Election Commission, Mr Naidu said that the CEO has also instructed the Additional DG (Intelligence), who works directly under him, to not report to him. “Following his illegal orders, the Additional DG (Intelligence) is no more reporting to me. I would like to know from the ECI whether the reporting authority of the Additional DG (Intelligence) has also been revised and if so, then who, if not the Chief Minister, is the Additional DG (Intelligence) now answerable to? Who has the authority to assess his performance and write his ACR? Does this also mean that the Director (IB) and the National Security Advisor have also been prohibited from functioning under the Prime Minister and from reporting to him?” Mr Naidu said.
He asked if the ECI had issued similar orders in the other states. “If not, then why is such discrimination being practiced only in Andhra Pradesh, where the Intelligence Chief has specifically been asked to not report to the CM?”
