KCR warns MLAs against corruption and dissident activities; threatens expulsion

Hyderabad: BRS president and Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao learnt to have issued a stern warning to party MLAs against indulging in corruption, group politics and dissident activities, threatening them with expulsion.

Rao told the party's plenary at Telangana Bhavan on Thursday that he had a list of MLAs who were extorting up to ₹ 3 lakh from Dalit Bandhu and 2BHK housing scheme beneficiaries. "This is the last and final warning to such MLAs. They should mend their ways else they would be thrown out of the party let alone giving them tickets again. Even if the followers or family members resort to extortion to extend government benefits, the MLAs concerned will be held responsible," he reportedly warned.

Referring to survey reports on the performance of MLAs, he warned non-performers saying, "Improve your performance, else I will take action.”

On the tussle between MLAs and others for party tickets to contest the Assembly polls, Rao said, " I know whom to give tickets to. Your performance is being assessed twice in a month through surveys. Just focus on your work. Remain among the people and do your job perfectly. Don't give chance to the Opposition to strengthen with your infighting."

On group politics and dissident activities, Rao said, "Several instances came to my notice during the Athmeeya Sammelanams. A few MLAs and leaders held parallel Athmeeya Sammelanams. A few of them did not invite leaders with whom they have differences. They quarrelled and fought in the open, damaging the party's image and reputation. They made statements against each other in front of the media. This kind of group politics and dissident activities will not tolerated."

The CM asked the MLAs to be cautious and take all leaders into confidence. "The responsibility of resolving infighting in the party lies with the incharge district ministers. They should speak to the warring groups and make them work for the party's victory together. The party will give opportunities to all leaders as and when the time comes. They should have patience," Rao said.

The CM reportedly referred to infighting in Warangal district between MLA T. Rajaiah and MLC Kadiam Srihari, in Vikarabad district between MLA ‘Pilot’ Rohith Reddy and MLC Patnam Mahender Reddy, among others.
