APSRTC starts delux air-cooler buses
GUNTUR: The APSRTC had started vattiveru mats usage to the windows of the buses to beat scorching summer heat. Now it is installing air-coolers in the buses for a cool journey in the day time. An air-cooler fitted to the bus is releasing cool air to the bus commuters. Primarily, the APSRTC introduced air-coolers in the long journey service of Mangalagiri-Srisailam bus and would start it in other services soon.
APSRTC Guntur regional manager G. Shrihari said that the RTC had already provided vattiveru mats to the windows of the buses to save the commuters from sunstroke and heat wave to travel in the buses during day time. He said that the occupancy ratio was falling as the public was not interested to travel long journeys during daytime out of the fear of scorching summer heat. He said that on an experimental basis, air-coolers have been fixed in the Mangalagiri-Srisailam day service ultra-delux bus to keep the bus cool and give cool breeze to the commuters.
He said that besides this, fans were fixed to circulate air at the seats. He added that APSRTC would introduce air-coolers in more long-distance buse services if this experiment becomes successful and asked the public to make good use of the air-coolers fixed to buses to travel during day time without any extra charge. Mr Shrihari said that cool mineral water is also being offered in the ultra-deluxe bus.
Bus commuters C. Narsimha Rao and others welcomed the air-cooler idea and said that it will save time of the devotees as they can complete Srisailam tour in one day. They said that the APSRTC non-AC buses were very hot during day time and mats and air-coolers would help the public for a safe journey.
