Thanjavur: In an unfortunate development, the Kumbakonam police in the district registered a case against two persons Ramkumar and Ramanathan who allegedly killed two puppies by beating them with a log of wood on Friday.
According to the police, Ganesamurthy (52), son of Perumal of Dr Murthy road reared a dog which yielded five puppies in a shopping complex near his house. He gave two puppies to his friends for rearing while the dog with three puppies stayed in the shopping complex.
Meanwhile Ganesamurthy went to feed the dog and puppies in the shopping complex on Friday. Two persons Ramkumar and Ramanthan, who are having shops in the complex, were seen beating the puppies with logs of wood.
When Ganesamurthy asked why they are doing so, they did not give a proper reply and escaped in a car. The puppies died and Ganesamurthy lodged a complaint against the two persons with the police.
The police are on the lookout for Ramanathan and Ramkumar who are absconding.
