TPCC Prepares Strategy to Expose Corruption and Reclaim Power in Telangana Elections
Hyderabad: TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy said noted that 120 days remained for the state elections, and said that Tuesday’s strategy meeting was the beginning of the party effort to regain power.
“Discussions were held on how to expose corruption of KCR and Modi’s misuse of power. Efforts will be made to reach out to SC, ST, BC and minorities,” he told mediapersons in Delhi. “We will strengthen the party at the booth level. Lessons are being taken from the Karnataka experience.”
AICC Telangana in-charge Manikrao Thakre reiterated that the Congress would not have an alliance with the BRS. “It will not even be a part of the national opposition alliance,” he said.
“The people are reeling under poverty even 10 years after the formation of Telangana. The situation has changed and people are looking for change. The BRS is trying to help the BJP to damage the Congress,” Thakre said.
Former TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said suggestions were invited from all leaders at the meeting on how to expose the failures of the BRS. He said that party president Mallikarjun Kharge had asked him to reach out to voters from the BC, SC, ST and minorities communities.
Former PCC president V. Hanumantha Rao said, “the 30 per cent corruption in Dalit Bandhu and other schemes will be exposed. The failure to deliver schools and double bedroom houses will be exposed.”
Senior leader Shabbir Ali, part of the political affairs committee, said, “The BRS and BJP are two sides of the same coin. We will take the suggestions from Rahul Gandhi forward.”
Thakre and other leaders hinted that efforts would be made to reach out to like-minded secular parties, suggesting that some sort of an alliance could be stitched up.
Asked for his comments on leaders not being together, Thakre said, “We are all together and are fighting the BRS and not within.”
Explaining the issues that came up for discussion Manthani MLA, D. Sridhar Babu said, “Efforts will be made to reach out to all communities with more declarations akin to the Youth Declaration and Farmers declaration. We will dump the Dharani portal as promised by Rahul Gandhi. Separate declarations will be issued for women and BCs shortly.”
