Tollywood drug case: Actress Charmme Kaur says cop touched her
Hyderabad: Tollywood actress Charmme Kaur alias Surdeep Kaur alleged that an excise policeman had touched her inappropriately when she went to Abkari Bhavan for questioning in the drugs case by the Special Investigation Team on Wednesday.
The SIT had deployed women police personnel following High Court orders, but Charmme complained that while entering the SIT office, head constable Srinivas had touched her inappropriately. She told the SIT officials of the incident.
Actress Charmme said she doesn’t do drugs
A spokesperson from the SIT denied it. Following the incident, however, officials deployed more women cops in the evening when Charmme was leaving the SIT office.
Charmme came to the SIT office at about 10 am along with her advocate and bouncers. While the bouncers waited at the ground floor, the advocate accompaied her to the SIT office. He left the interrogation room after he confirmed that Charmme was comfortable, and returned at the end of questioning at 5 pm. While leaving, she refused to talk to media.
An SIT source said she refused to answer many questions. “She avoided important questions by saying ‘Yes’, ‘No’, ‘I have no idea’ and ‘I don’t want to comment’,” he said.
The SIT asked her about drugs racket mastermind Calvin Mascarenhas, those peddling drugs to the film's cine industry, Puri Jagannadh's role and other personalities who are addicted to drugs.
To a question, she said that she didn't take drugs. The interrogation was done under supervision of assistant excise superintendent K. Pavan Kumar and women staff including inspectors B.L. Renuka, V. Jaya Lakshmi and sub-inspector Ch. Shravani.
Another team questioned two event managers — Sachin Dhavan and Md. Sujauddin alias Salman — about Calvin Mascarenhas's links with the film industry and customers. Based on the statement given by the duo, the SIT will send notices to few more film personalities.
