Bengaluru: Dance bar raided, 33 girls rescued, 32 nabbed
Bengaluru: As many as 33 bar girls were rescued by the City Crime Bureau (CCB) and 32 others were arrested in a major late night raid on a dance bar in the city.
The Lovers Night Dance Bar located near Town Hall in the SJ Park police station limits was raided, according to CCB sleuths.
Investigations revealed that 33 girls were illegally detained by the bar management, and all of them are from other states.
They were brought here on the pretext of getting them jobs. The girls were initially employed as bar girls by the management, but were later forced to engage in vulgar dance movements on the bar premises, the CCB said.
The police have arrested bar manager Sadananda Poojari and cashier Balakrishna Shetty. Bar owner Yathish Chandra Shetty and building owner Sudheendra Babu are said to be absconding.
The CCB sleuths recovered Rs 1.23 lakh in cash.
The CCB sleuths are conducting raids on dance bars twice a week to keep a check on the illegal business and human trafficking, DCP of CCB Girish S. said. Investigations are on.
