Hyderabad: Heavy rain hit office workers

here were complaints of water logging at Ranjigunj and Rajeev Gandhi statue.

HYDERABAD: Office-goers and commuters were hit as traffic was moving at a snail’s pace on Saturday morning. The IT corridor came to a standstill as employees were stuck in Kukkatpally, Alwal, Balnagar, Miyapur and Hi-Tech city.

A senior official from the Hyderabad traffic police said, “Although the water receded quickly in Cyberabad, we have to employ extra staff to ensure smooth flow of traffic. There were traffic blocks in many places due to water logging.”

The police further said traffic snarls were witnessed at Malakpet railway station, Punjagutta, Nalgonda Junc-tion and near Triveni Women’s college. There were complaints of water logging at Ranjigunj and Rajeev Gandhi statue, they added.

M.D Isaaq, from the traffic control unit, said, “The traffic was mainly affected from 7 am to 9 am due to the flooded roads. Since it was a weekend, the crowd was less.”

V Ranvinder, joint commissioner of traffic, said, “We joined hands with the GHMC to ensure water-free roads. Though we didn’t face any major traffic congestion, the vehicular movement was slow in many places.”
