Verdict today on Hyderabad twin bomb blasts case
Hyderabad: Considered as the biggest-ever explosions in the Telugu states with 42 people losing their lives and 54 being badly injured, the most awaited day has come with the special court scheduled to pronounce its judgement in the case on Monday. So far, seven accused persons were identified in the case, with three persons including the alleged prime conspirator Riyaz Bhatkal still roaming free. The four accused who were arrested are Akbar Ismail Choudhary, Aneeq Shafeeq Sayeed, Mohammed Tariq Anjum Ahsan and Farookh Sharfuddin Tarkash, and Sad-iq Israr Ahmed Sheikh,
The second Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court at Nampally criminal courts, which was conducting the trial for the four arrested accused in the case, shifted the trial to the special prison at Cherlapally. The blasts took place at two of the most crowded places in Hyderabad — Lumbini Park and Gokul Chat at Sultan Bazaar on August 25, 2007. An unexploded bomb was recovered on the same day near Venkatadri theatre in Dilsukhnagar.
The investigation of the case was handed over to OCTOPUS, which has been its first and last case to probe. The accused were arrested by the Mumbai’s ATS in October 2008 and were then handed over to the Hyderabad police in February 2009. The investigators questioned over 286 persons as witnesses and examined hundreds of material objects, and filed a charge sheet of 1,125 pages.
