Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday stayed all further proceedings in the allotment of 6,500 square yards of land at Bandlaguda to the Owaisi Hospital and Research Centre by the Telangana state government.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan and Justice V. Ramasubramanian granted the stay while dealing with a public interest litigation by Ms Shaik Aneesha, an employee and resident of Nadeem Colony at Tolichowki.
The bench also issued notice to the Chief Secretary, revenue principal secretary, Hyderabad collector, GHMC commissioner, Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, MIM former MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi and officials of the Owaisi Hospital.
The petitioner told the court that the state government had allotted the land to the Owaisi Hospital for Rs 3.75 crore, which had caused a huge revenue loss as the value of the property was about Rs 40 crore.
She submitted that the state government had allotted the land for only Rs 3.75 crore with a view to getting the support of the MIM president and the party in the upcoming elections.
Though the item was not on the agenda of the last Cabinet meet, the government had placed the issue as a tabled item and accorded sanction, Ms Aneesha added.
There was a dispute with regard to the land parcel with the Owaisi Hospital, and the government, had won the title after a prolonged legal battle.
While directing the respondents not to proceed in this matter for three months, the bench told the respondents to file their counter affidavits and posted the case to next month.
